Pupils from Icknield Walk First School donned their favourite superhero costumes for a unique mission.

Wicked Professor Spade, a character from the story 'Traction Man Is Here', had stolen some classroom dolls and buried them in dirt.

Children created their own comic strip, showing ways they could help Traction Man rescue the dolls.

Students also designed and crafted superhero shields as part of their 'Superheroes' topic.

Meanwhile, reception pupils met some real-life heroes - emergency service workers.

Teacher Mrs Williams said: "We are very thankful to have visitors in.

"Seeing how the children’s learning is enhanced by such visits is a delight to see.

"We know that to be a real superhero you need kindness, bravery, and strength, all of which we practise every day."
