Based on the true story of the chart-topping Cornish singing sensations, Fisherman's Friends: The Musical, is heading to Cambridge after smashing box office records in Cornwall.

The musical tells the story of a group of Cornish fishermen who come together to sing the traditional working songs they had sung for generations, eventually ending up on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.

Their rise to fame begins when they are spotted by a music manager on a trip from London, who must learn that there is more to life than selling your soul for 15 minutes of fame.

The musical features hit shanties made famous by the band, including Keep Haulin'Nelson's BloodNo Hopers, Jokers & Rogues and many more.

Formed in 1990, the real-life band Fishermen's Friends, who inspired the musical, is comprised of men from the small fishing village of Port Isaac.

Their traditional Cornish songs began to attract large audiences, and their story was adapted for both film and stage. The band were also signed by Universal Records in a million-dollar deal, and have released 10 albums, of which their debut was a top 10 hit.

Fisherman's Friends was a smash-hit film in 2019, directed by Chris Foggin. A sequel, Fisherman's Friends: One and All, based on their Glastonbury performance in front of 20,000 people, was released in 2022.
