THE Battle trio enjoyed enormous success with debut album Hopes and Fears, something that can usually cripple a young band, but Keane seem to have surmounted "difficult second album" syndrome with this latest release.

Under the Iron Sea is a clear progression from its predecessor, with an element of darkness only hinted at on their first album.

Interviews with the band have suggested the trio were close to breaking point during the tense recording sessions, as they drove themselves to progress musically, while not alienating their fanbase. The verdict from the fans, however, has been overwhelmingly positive.
