BBC TWO, Tuesday February 28, 10pm. ICE skating fever is sweeping the nation. A new comedy series set in the north of England about the cut-throat world of amateur ice skating is next to hit our screens. At the height of Torvill and Dean's popularity, Derby's Ice bowl had all the state-of-the-art facilities all ice skaters needed. But 20 years on, the ice rink has certainly seen better days and the activities on offer are dated. Ice skating lessons for junior 'penguins' are organised by a mum, while her talented daughter dreams of competing in Figure Skating Championships. In the first episode, manager Roy Piper's problems intensify when a pigeon takes refuge in the roof of the ice rink of the day of the British Championship heats.
