CHRISTMAS spirit comes to Ashwell next week when the theatre club presents a production of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol.
The curtain will go up when members of the Ashwell Theatre Club take to the stage for Connie Chambers' directing debut about the true meaning of Christmas.
And avoiding the ghosts of the past, present and future, Royston-based jeweller Keith Gordon leads the way in his role as the 'Bah Humbug' yelling Ebenezer Scrooge.
However, leaving his character firmly on the stage, Mr Gordon agreed to have his head shaved - a gesture that has helped raise £250 for the club.
Chairman of Ashwell Theatre Club, Christine Scholfield said: "We are bringing a Christmas feel to the village and everyone involved is looking forward to it.
"It's great to see the young and adult members of the club working together.
"Keith makes a marvellous Scrooge - he has certainly been frightening me! All the cast and crew have been working hard and it promises to be a true Christmas family show."
There will be three shows at Ashwell Village Hall, starting on Friday December 8 at 8pm.
Two more shows will follow on Saturday, December 9, with a matinee performance at 3pm and an evening show at 8pm.
Tickets, priced at £7.50,are on sale at Ashwell Post Office. including mosques and mausoleums, many dating from the 13th-15th centuries.
The results for a competition for an article in silk were 1, Lynn Shipp; 2, Sheila Byrne; 3, Jean Hamdorff.
At the next meeting on December 12, John Lauckner will entertain members with seasonal music and singing.
