JAMES Risen, who has covered national security for the New York Times for many a year uses his book to take an in-depth look at the Bush administration and its relationships with the rest of Washington. Risen claims that below the workings of the President there is a hidden truth which involves such bodies as the CIA, the Department of Defence and the National Security Administration. He says that Bush was not being made aware of plans and was kept ignorant of discussions revolving around national security and the war in Iraq. The book reveals the scandals which involve the intelligence community in the US and demonstrates the use of power under George W Bush's presidency.
