Archant

Children in Chrishall are said to be fretting that Father Christmas might not be able to track down this year’s Christmas Market on Sunday, December 7.

The village hall has moved up the road to the old Methodist Chapel and Hall in Crawley End, and the festive market is the first big community event in the refurbished venue.

Organisers promise stalls full of Christmas gifts and decorations, handicrafts, toys, cakes, pickles and sauces, greetings cards, sweets, a bran tub and lots more.

One newcomer to the market is Lindsey Crawley with her beautifully handspun and knitted sweaters, scarves and shawls.

And Lucas Ling, the village blacksmith and market organiser, will have an impressive array of ironwork and woodwork for sale.

With mulled wine and mince pies and soup, tea and coffee on offer the market promises to be a wonderful warming start to the festive season and an excellent way to celebrate the community facility.

So fingers are crossed that Father Christmas will be able to make it by 4pm, when he has promised to distribute the contents of an enormous sack of presents to the village’s children.

The market itself is open from 3pm to 6pm.
