Do you have relatives from Royston who served in the First World War? Then town researchers would love to hear from you – and record any stories or material you might hold – for a new exhibition.

Royston’s district museum and the What Royston Did project are joining forces to compile the First World War Centenary exhibition, to be displayed at the museum this autumn.

The project is seeking to source photographs and background stories for all the men listed on the town’s war memorial, as well as discovering more about home front heroes like Daisy Clark – a headmistress who gave 5,000 hours of her time to the Auxiliary Hospital set up at Queens Road School.

If you are a member of family history sites such as Find my Past and Ancestry, you might even be able to assist them without even leaving your own home.

If you enjoy knitting they will also be seeking volunteers to knit poppies for inclusion in the exhibition, and sale to raise funds for the Poppy Appeal. Knitting patterns are available from the museum.
