THIS is more than a tale out of school.

Indeed, it turns into a psychological thriller with Judi Dench playing a well-worn, spinster schoolteacher who keeps the secret of a younger colleague, Cate Blanchett, who is discovered in a compromising position with a 15-year-old student.

In the hands of director Richard Eyre it becomes a compelling story with, as expected, both Dench and Blanchett delivering performances which are absorbing and completely believable.
