A singing Royston accountant is set to release his debut single – with town businesses and organisations featuring in the charity video.

Under the stage name Joe Rose, John Froggett has recorded a single for independent label Folkstock Records in aid of the local branch of national charity Home-Start.

The ‘star-studded’ video for his cover of Can’t Help Falling in Love features more than 25 businesses from the town including members of Royston Business Network, Leaf and Lawn, and Margaret House residential and dementia care home in Barley.

He’s delighted the track will be raising funds for Home-Start Royston & South Cambridgeshire, a cause close to his heart.

John and his High Street business, The Accountancy Practice, are enthusiastic sponsors of Home-Start’s fundraising efforts, and the 60-year-old has also undergone the training required to become a volunteer.

“I’ve witnessed first hand the impact of the vital and much appreciated support for parents of young children, many of whom are self referring,” said John.

“Home-Start supports during the most stressful times, provide a virtual ‘family’, which is often missing in our geographically fragmented society.

“Deciding to raise money for Home-Start was easy as Folkstock label owner Helen Meissner has also been a volunteer for the charity.”

John, aka Joe Rose, made his live debut at Folkstock’s all-day festival at The White Lion in Baldock in September.

Since then he’s recorded his first single with Walkern’s award-winning producer Lauren Deakin Davies.

Lauren also played all the instruments to accompany Joe’s performance.

She said: “I get real pleasure from helping someone bring a song to life.

“I was impressed with Joe’s vocal delivery which has a very appealing naturally resonant, rich warm tone and hope I’ve done it justice.”

The song is available to download in exchange for a donation to the charity.

There’s also a light-hearted video with 27 local businesses and organisations helping to bring the song to life.

Watch the video to see members of Royston Business Network, Leaf and Lawn, The Listing, DIY Rescue, La Bella Vita, Royston Cycles, Kisses, Margaret House, Trademark Kitchens and Bathrooms, Abode Town and Country, Tanya from Armadillo Ink, and The Accountancy Practice among others.

The video also includes some amusing outtakes at the end.
