What’s in a name? Folk/pop four-piece EdwardAlice aren’t the ones to ask – none of their members are likely to answer to either appelation.

There’s a Tom, an Olivia, a Christian and a Katherine in the line-up, and you’ll be able to catch them at Royston Folk Club on Friday night.

Initially a trio of Brighton musicians, the band formed in Cambridge early in 2013 with a strong desire to create fun and original music that can be played unplugged.

After writing their first batch of catchy songs and performing them on the circuit, they decided that they could augment and add richness to their sound with the addition of another female voice.

Now they draw on musical influences ranging from The Beatles to Toots and the Maytals and have recently released their second EP, Lovers & Poets.

Support at the Old Bull Inn in the High Street comes from rising Hertfordshire star Kelly Oliver, who released her debut album This Land just before Christmas.

Tickets are £10 (£8 in advance) but only £2 if you’re under 25.

Doors open at 7pm for an 8pm start.
