Lloyd Cole, one of the most articulate songwriters of recent years, plays The Junction next month.

Cole, originally with his band The Commotions, produced a series of successful albums in the 80s, as well as hit singles such as Lost Weekend.

He released his first solo album in 1990, and has been recording regularly ever since.

Cole is still constantly on tour, playing intimate club venues in a one-man acoustic setting.

But three years ago, Lloyd Cole and the Commotions reformed to perform a one-off, sell-out tour in the UK and Ireland.

Last year Cole released another solo album, Antidepressant, which featured the guitar of former Commotion Neil Clark on some tracks.

Many people feel that Antidepressant contains some of Cole's best work to date.

Working largely alone, Cole plays drums, guitars and keyboards on the album.

He appears at The Junction on August 7, doors open at 7pm.

Tickets cost £15. Contact the Junction on 01223 511511.
