By Marina Lewycka Marina Lewycka was born in a German refugee camp after the Second World War to Ukrainian parents, but grew up in Britain. Her debut novel is a blend of the poignant and the outrageous, and is delightfully amusing. Pappa Mayevska is a happy man. He is 84 years old, has a healthy interest in tractors, and has a new wife. Valentina is nearly 50 years his junior, and has a penchant for green satin underwear, and just because they've only known one another for three months doesn't mean it's anything other than true love. It will also help her get her visa to have a husband she thinks is much richer than he is. Pappa's two daughters, Vera and Nadezhda, must now put aside a lifetime's worth of feuding to unite against a common enemy.
