THE pop world is not always known for its honesty.

But here Alex James does at least give an insight in the life of being a member of one of the leading bands of its time.

James, of course, was the bass player for Blur.

He does not disguise or make excuses about those hard-drinking days: the days that saw him progress from a down-and-out in a south London squat to become a member of a group that for a time dominated the charts.

There is, however, another side to James: the life he now lives as a teetotal sheep farmer in the Cotswolds.

It's an interesting insight into the pop business - and life after rock.
