A story about a beautiful Egyptian slave girl and her love for an Egyptian hero will be staged by Ellen Kent and Opera International in Cambridge next month.

The grandest of all operas, Verdi's Aida, will feature stunning sets and costumes, and a dramatic plot which will reflect the splendor and mystery of ancient Egypt, using ancient Egyptian tomb paintings.

The production, which was premiered at the Cairo Opera House in December 1871, received the 2004 Best Opera Award, and has since received excellent reviews throughout the UK.

The production will be staged at Cambridge Corn Exchange on April 12, at 7.30pm.
