THE much-acclaimed biopic of the highs and lows of country star Johnny Cash, which netted a Best Actress Oscar for Reese Witherspoon, who plays June Carter.
From seeing his brother die following an agricultural accident, Cash became one of the most legendary performers ever to strap on a guitar.
This story traces his rise - from his first appearance at Sun Studios in Memphis - his subsequent fall and the drug use which nearly killed him, to his rebirth with the ultra-successful At Folsom Prison, one of the most popular live recordings ever made.
What helps to make this all the more authentic is the fact that Joaquin Phoenix, who plays Cash, and Witherspoon, both sang the vocals themselves.
