This revised and expanded edition of historian Mike Petty's book is a compelling study that documents our county's streets, churches and landmarks through hundreds of historic photographs.
All of the photos that make up the book are taken from a wide-ranging inter-war survey of Cambridgeshire, carried out by a group of Cambridge antiquarians in 1925.
They loaded their car with cameras and took a journey through Cambridge and across the county, providing a vivid account of towns and villages in a state of change.
The photographs of Cambridge illustrate how tightly-packed Victorian housing has given way to modern shopping centres, while many of the shots show parts of Ely and its districts that have changed beyond recognition.
