Tony Robinson leads the experts by digging up the gardens at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Holyroyd House. The Queen, it is believed, did give her permission.
One search involves looking for Civil War defences at Buckingham Palace, while another hoped to uncover evidence of an original place built by Henry II.
