IT'S play season again at the Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage, and three tantalising thrillers are on offer during February.

The Late Edwina Black sets the ball rolling, with Stephen McGann, love rat Sean in Emmerdale, and Stephen Beckett, best known for his role as Dr Matt Ramsden in Coronation Street, leading the all-star cast.

Detective Martin from Scotland Yard arrives at invalid Edwina's funeral putting pot to her window, Gregory, and her 'companion', Elizabeth's plans to run away to Italy as lovers taking with them her fortune.

Then it's on to Dangerous Obsession which has enjoyed a successful West End run.

Sally Driscoll is watering the plants in her conservatory when a man, watching her through the glass, makes his presence known.

He is not a total stranger but maybe her husband has more reason to remember him.

He locks the door and puts the key in his pocket - this is not going to be a social call.

And finally is psychological thriller The Business of Murder by acclaimed playwright Richard Harris, and starring Todd Carty, formerly of EastEnders and The Bill, and Sally Ann Matthews.

TV writer Dee arrives at the flat of a man named Stone to discuss a script written by his 'wife'.

But she is shocked when Detective Inspector Hallet, with whom she is having an affair, also arrives, having been asked to investigate a matter concerning Stone's 'son' and his involvement in a drugs ring.

But where are the wife and son? Stone's intentions soon become clear and it appears the three are all in their own way concerned with the business of murder.

The Late Edwina Black runs from Feb 12-16, Dangerous Obsession Feb 19-23 and The Business of Murder Feb 26-March 1.

Tickets cost £17-19.50 from the box office on 0870 131030.
