THE WOMBATS appear to fit all the criteria for an up and coming indie band. With their scruffy hair cuts, wacky live shows and the lyrics about "real life" they look well set for success.
Their debut record, A Guide to Love, Loss, and Desperation, should help, too. Lets Dance to Joy Division, an ode to dour indie clubs everywhere, has already had plenty of radio play, and it's virtually impossible not to tap your feet to the infectious tunes of Kill the Director or School Uniforms.
While A Guide to Love is unlikely to win any prizes for originality, the Wombats have created an energetic, catchy, and most importantly, fun, album, one which will no doubt go down well with fans of Maximo Park or the Futureheads.
