THE British Embassy in Washington becomes the centre of attraction in a complicated story revolving around life in the diplomatic corps.
The State Within, however, is one of those series that reveals much in the end.
Certainly, to see it over a number of viewings rather than week-by-week does help to work out the threads of a conspiracy in which it is obvious that the British do not quite have the power which everyone believed once existed.
But the Washington here is removed from, say, The West Wing and All The President's Men, which really are worth seeing.
