Fans from all over the world will be celebrating the life of the late king of Rock 'n' Roll today (Thursday).

Plinston Hall in Letchworth will be one of the many venues to stage a tribute show to Elvis Aaron Presley, who died of a heart attack 30 years ago in 1977.

Paul Dowsett and the Jail House Cats will be performing Elvis the Early Years, featuring more than 25 famous rock 'n' roll and rockabilly classic hits, including Mystery Train, Lawdy Miss Clawdy, and Shake, Rattle and Roll.

There will also be a unique Billy Fury Tribute Show by Paul Neon, who will also sing hits from the likes of Marty Wilde, early Cliff Richard, and Bobby Vee.

The Montgomery Music Makers will be rockin' the crowd with the band's rockabilly sounds.

DJ Strolling Steve will be entertaining the Elvis fans in between acts, with some 50s and 60s favourites.

Elvis would have been 72 on January 8 this year, and the music of the true king of rock 'n' roll still lives on strongly today.

His reign began in 1953, when as a young worker from the Parker Machinists Shop, he wondered into the Memphis Recording Service on his lunch hour to record a couple of tracks.

Elvis signed for Sun Records before RCA bought his Sun contract for $40,000, and he had his first number 1 hit - Heartbreak Hotel.

Elvis Presley is the best-selling solo artist in US history, and spent more weeks at the top of the charts than any other act.

The King had the greatest number of consecutive number 1 hits, and was second only to The Beatles in his total of number 1 hits.

Shake, Rattle and Roll will start at 8pm tonight and is an over 18s event.

Tickets cost £12 on the door or £10 in advance by calling 01462 672003.
