Saffron Walden Symphony Orchestra presents American Classics, including George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue at Saffron Hall on Sunday afternoon February 10.

The 1924, groundbreaking Rhapsody for solo piano and jazz band, combines elements of classical music with jazz-influenced effects.

It brought Gershwin acceptance as a serious composer.

The concert programme also include’s Gershwin’s Cuban Overture, Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings, and Howard Hanson’s Romantic, his Symphony No.2 written in 1930, which includes melodies in the Hollywood style.

Jerome Sadler will be on the piano, the orchestra will be conducted by Richard Hull and led by Sarah James.

Concert at 3pm.
