It doesn’t have its premiere until April, but three performances of new musical Rapunzel have already sold out at the Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage.

With book, music and lyrics by choreographer Khiley Williams, musical director Phil Dennis, and director and executive producer Catherine Lomax, Rapunzel opens at the Lytton Way theatre on Thursday, April 13.

If you fancy letting your hair down, Rapunzel runs at the GCT until Easter Monday, April 17.

However, you’d better be quick as the Stevenage theatre reports that over 85 per cent of tickets for the nine performances have already been sold.

The first two shows have completely sold out, with all tickets for the Saturday matinee also gone, while there is limited availability for the remaining performances.

Promoters have extended an early bird offer until the end of the month.

Standard tickets cost £18 if paid for by January 31, while a family ticket for four members currently costs £57.

Full price tickets for the children’s Easter show will cost £20 standard from February 1, and £65 for a family pass.

Based on the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale, Rapunzel features toe-tapping new songs and this UK premiere is ideal for the whole family.

Sophia is desperate for a baby of her own.

Her husband Karl cannot bear to see her upset any longer and realising their lonely neighbour is their last chance, he begs for Gothel’s help.

Gothel offers Karl a magic herb from her garden, but the price is high.

Sophia and Karl will get the baby they long for, but on Rapunzel’s 16th birthday she must be returned to Gothel.

Years later, trapped in a tower, Rapunzel has grown into a beautiful and clever young woman.

But will she ever get out of the tower and return home?

Longing for adventure and freedom and with only Viktor, the crow, for company, how will Rapunzel ever escape?

Can Prince Freddie save the day or will Rapunzel never make it home?

If you want the answers, snap up the final few tickets before they go.
