Mark Steel brings his show Every Little Thing’s Gonna Be Alright to Saffron Walden Town Hall on Wednesday, March 27.
Launching it at the Edinburgh Festival, he asked: “Do you think I should have put this show off until next year, so it was a bit less bitter?”
The title was meant to be ironic, post-Brexit, post-Trump, and in the midst of his own divorce.
Steel, known for his Mark Steel’s in town series on BBC Radio 4, where he makes communities laugh at themselves, was ready to vent.
His divorce, or rather his ex-wife’s decision to divorce him, came as a surprise apparently.
Just when he was glad he didn’t have to “go through all that palaver of dating” he found himself single again.
He said he didn’t realise how many things about him she found annoying. But people are easily offended these days. Just look at how sensitive the world is in reaction to Twitter.
Doors 7.15pm, show 8pm. For ages 14+. Tickets, £17.50 from 01223 357851 or tickets@cambridgelivetrust.co.uk or jesterlarf.com.
