THIS nature documentary, narrated by actor Morgan Freeman, follows the efforts made by a colony of Emperor penguins to reproduce despite the dangers facing them.

Shot over 13 months in Antarctica, these resilient creatures mate during the coldest months of the year, and have an amazing journey ahead of them.

If their eggs hatch, throughout the year they must keep a watchful eye on their young chicks, protecting them from the freezing conditions or predators.

French director, Luc Jacquet, produced a remarkable, real to life story with some fantastic scenery of Antarctica and incredible photography.

Scenes of penguins hunting underwater and sliding along the ice will certainly inspire young children, as well as adults.

And Freeman's voice also gives these incredible creatures the dignity they deserve.
