The vividly colourful and passionate production of Bizet's masterpiece Carmen will be taking over the Cambridge Corn Exchange next month.
The opera will be brought to the city with a large cast and the full Chisinau National Philharmonic Orchestra and chorus, by Ellen Kent and Opera International.
The opera is inspired by Ellen Kent's years in Andalucia, with many of the scenes based on Malaga rather than Seville, and there will be a special guest appearance at some venues by a donkey.
Mezzo-soprano Nadezhda Stoinova will return to sing Carmen after gaining rapturous reviews in her debut as the character in 2004.
The production will be on Sunday September 30 at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £21.50-31.50 and are available from the box office on 01223 357851
