The Cambridge Corn Exchange will be full of Spanish magic on Sunday as Ellen Kent and Opera International introduce Bizet's Carmen.
British mezzo-soprano Heather Shipp will be singing Carmen on the production's UK tour.
She said: "I am very much looking forward to singing Carmen.
"I sang the role about five years ago and I was just thinking I would love to do it again.
"Carmen is the one character that every mezzo wants to sing. It sits perfectly for my voice.
"Carmen gives you the chance to be completely free and outrageous, it is absolutely gorgeous."
Bizet's passionate masterpiece, set in traditional Spain, is her favourite role says Heather.
"Carmen is a free spirit, she is a modern woman.
"It is very liberating to sing, the role is good for acting and singing."
Heather, who trained at the Trinity College of Music, will be touring the country in her new role and this will be the first time she has worked with Ellen Kent and Opera International.
"I have just come back from working in Austria which was beautiful and Australia is a fantastic country.
"But I love working here where you can go home to your own bed."
Coming from a musical family, Heather originally wanted to be a ballet dancer.
"I grew too tall but I had always had a good voice and started looking for something else to do that would get me on stage and combine all the things I loved."
The production will start at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £21.50-31.50 and are available from the box office on 01223 357851.
