A TRAGIC story of betrayal, lust, love and lies is coming to Cambridge.

Ellen Kent and Opera International will be bringing Puccini's Tosca to the Corn Exchange on Tuesday, May 22, from the award winning Chisinau National Opera and a local children's choir.

In order to replicate Rome in the early 19th century, Ellen Kent returned to Rome in 2004 to photograph some of Italy's most impressive churches that inspired Puccini, to help create a set which is rich, grand, and lavish with beautiful period Italian tapestries chandeliers, and costumes.

Premiered on January 14 1900, La Tosca is still going from strength to strength, with international soloists including Natalia Margarit and the celebrated Moldovan baritone Vladimir Dragos.
