WITH rock music always desperately looking for the next new thing, thank goodness for Tom Petty, who's still coming up with the goods after 30 years.
His latest album, minus The Heartbreakers, apart from long-standing guitar man Mike Campbell, sees him renew his 90s production relationship with Jeff Lynne of ELO.
And Petty is in fine form. His songs are every bit as good as those of other roots rockers of his era, his lyrics as incisive as ever.
And a big plus with Petty is that he never lets the songs get in the way of a good tune.
