IN the early 1950s, the threat of communism created an air of paranoia in the United States and in no small way, Senator Joseph McCarthy used the fears of ordinary people to further his own cause. He did have his critics, however, and by far the most vocal were CBS reporter Ed Murrow (David Stratharin) and his producer Fred Friendly (George Clooney). They worked tirelessly to expose McCarthy and their determination eventually brought down one of the most controversial senators in American history.
Shot in black and white, and every effort has been made to recreate the tension and drama of a 1950s newsroom. A bit short at 93 minutes, but leaves you rushing off to read the history books. George Clooney stars, directs and co-writes.
