GRIEVING widow Jodie Foster carries this highly-improbable new take on the plane hijack theme.

Foster plays an aviation engineer who is flying to New York from Berlin, taking her daughter with her. When, halfway through the flight, her daughter goes missing, she is forced to doubt her own sanity as she searches the plane high and low for the child, with no success.

The twist is laughable, the characters caricatured to the point of ridicule - even Sean Bean has a near cameo role as the pilot - but Foster does have a certain manic energy throughout which is impossible to ignore. A film which never really took off, and maybe would have been better if Hollywood ditched it at the runway stage.
