PATRICK Bishop has turned his attention to Bomber Command and the men involved in bombing mission over Germany and occupied Europe during the Second World War.
Unlike his previous book, Fighter Boys, which revolved around the men who became romantic heroes for their role in the Battle of Britain, here Bishop tells a different story.
Although the men of Bomber Command displayed courage and bravery in the seemingly non-stop operations into enemy territory, they became the subject of much criticism after the war because of tactics adopted by those in charge.
Here Bishop does much to restore their reputation.
