A magnificently macabre musical is coming to Royston’s Meridian School next weekend.
The Addams Family’s plot delves into the kooky, upside-down world of the horror household, where a grave crisis is brewing.
It is every father’s worst nightmare, but in reverse as daughter Wednesday has grown up and fallen in love with a young man from a quiet, respectable and non-monstrous Ohio family.
And to make things worse, the romance seems to have turned the gloomy Addams girl downright cheery, leaving her family worried and distressed.
Comic chaos reigns when they host a dinner for Wednesday’s new boyfriend and his parents so they can become better acquainted with the entire Addams family.
The company – made up of 80 students from a range of year groups – has been rehearsing hard since the beginning of term to demonstrate their passion for musical theatre.
Meridian’s head of performing arts Jenny Warburton said: “It is a extremely positive showcase of the talent, passion and hard work of the students of Meridian, who have thrown themselves into the production with enthusiasm, energy – and deadpan expressions.”
The show opens on Thursday next week and runs until the following Saturday. It starts at 7.30pm each day, with an afternoon matinee performance on the final day.
Get your tickets at the school office in Garden Walk.
