It is rare that a collection of photos and historical information can be so stunning and professional yet at the same time so personal. Tim Rawle has a wealth of experience in the fields of architecture, art and design. Tim not only studied architecture at Downing College, but is also a Fellow Commoner of the college and knows Cambridge intimately, which is why this book is quite different from the normal guidebook to the city and its architecture. He takes a much more personal and eclectic approach to the views and history of Cambridge. The history included is also exciting to read, not only detailing the minutiae of the architectural history, it addresses the history of Cambridge as a whole.
