ANYONE who has listened to the radio at some point in the last few weeks will already be familiar with Adele.
The south London singer's second single, Chasing Pavements, has been benefiting from plenty of airplay recently, and entered the charts at number two last week.
On the back of this comes her debut album, 19, which has already impressed an array of critics, notably at the BBC, who nominated her as the their Sound of 2008.
While Adele has been compared favourably to Amy Winehouse, at times her music lacks the energy and intimacy of the troubled Rehab singer's work.
Still, her vocal quality is such that it should ensure she wins plenty of fans, and songs such as Daydreamer and Right as Rain stand out as potential hits.
