ROYSTON'S under-15s returned to form with a nine-wicket win over Abington after losing to Reed earlier in the week.

Royston bowled tightly and kept their opponents' run rate relatively low.

Johnson (40 no) and Jones (23) batted solidly for Abington putting on a first-wicket stand of 66.

Abington finished on 76-2, with Royston responding by losing their opener for a duck.

However, once again the partnership of Harper and Leary pulled Royston to safety, with Harper making 32 not out and Leary an unbeaten 26, Royston winning by nine wickets.

After quickly reducing Reed to 10-2 after four overs, things deteriorated for Royston as their opponents went on to make 123-8, despite 3-19 from Adam Wright. Garrott (41) and Ward (25) were the top Reed scorers.

A good partnership between Rory Harper (17) and Martin Leary (18) took the score to 51-1 and left Royston in a good position.

However, it did not last, as Royston collapsed to 84-7 before ending the match all out for 112 in the last over.

Neil Addison (21) was the pick of the Royston batsmen, hitting one huge six, before falling to West.

Elsewhere, the under-13s were unable to retain their annual seven-a-side tournament which featured sides from Hardwick, Saffron Walden, and Abington.

An exciting final was contested by Hardwick and Saffron Walden.

Setting a target of 143 to win off 12 overs, Hardwick put up a brave fight, but fell short by 20 runs, despite a memorable unbeaten 67 not out from one of their openers.
