A YOUNG Thriplow thirds hosted a strong Cambourne second team at the Fowlmere ground on Saturday with their inexperience showing.

The Thriplow team, with five under-15 players, took the field with Tom Care and Henry Baker opening the bowling.

Baker, bowling his intelligent swinging medium pacers, soon had the Cambourne batsmen in trouble, taking Cundle lbw and then bowling Casey.

He then took a diving catch to see off the dangerous Vasu, and finished his first four overs with 3-15.

Thirteen-year-old Robert Craze and Oliver Richer then joined the action, and between them took the wickets of Wood and Sharma.

This brought Danny White to the wicket, and he quietly established himself against the accurate bowling of the young Thriplow bowlers, and began to mount a respectable challenge.

Joined by Harrison, White was soon on 115 and by the end of their 40 overs had taken Cambourne to 212-9.

In reply, Nick Cliffe and Oliver Richer (14) got Thriplow off to a good start, before Cliffe was out for 10.

Richer progressed to 31 against some accurate Cambourne bowling, but once he was dismissed, the remainder of the young Thriplow order all failed to reach double figures, and were all out in the 37th over for just 96.
