ROYSTON had another busy weekend with home fixtures against Stevenage and Huntingdon, and came away with a win and a loss.

On a warm day on the Heath, Royston's backs struggled to get any momentum going forward and although there was some tenacious tackling by Joseph Simons and Nathan King Stevenage scored first after stealing the ball in a ruck and breaching the Royston try line.

The visitors extended their lead quickly afterwards with another try but despite being 2-0 down at half time Royston's youngsters showed great character and were soon back in the game.

Edward Shannon stormed the line following a good team move to half the deficit but the hosts were unable to get an equaliser despite some good pressure.

In the interim game Huntingdon took a 3-1 lead against Stevenage before Stevenage pulled back to finish the game 3-3, and Royston then readied themselves to play Huntingdon.

Boosted by halftime fairy cakes baked by Andrea Boardman and Kevin Drage, Royston got off to a superb start.

Will Tyrell opened the scoring in the corner before Zac Holson set up Shannon for a try, and Tyrell got a second moments later.

Huntingdon pulled a score back before Tyrell scored his hat trick and then running the length of the field for his fourth and the team's fifth.

In the dying moments, Huntingdon got themselves into the game with a couple of quick tries, but nothing would tarnish the great Royston victory.
