CROWS boss Phil Snowden said he was impressed with his players' reaction after Saturday's FA Vase win over Harpenden.

Royston continued their excellent run with a first round win against their Division One rivals.

However, after Graham Tibbals and Dave McMurrough shot Town to victory, the players met and discussed where they needed to improve.

Captain Stuart Snowden told The Crow: "We were all pleased with the win, but felt we could have played better.

"We would have liked to have played more fluidly and perhaps scored a few more goals.

"But it was difficult because Harpenden kept playing the long ball, which disrupted our usual play - and we can't let that happen.

"I thought we played well in patches, but there were also times when we became a bit negative and reverted to their tactics.

"We want to be playing good football and moving the ball around on the ground.

"That's when we play best and we know we are capable of playing better."

Phil Snowden said: "It was a very pleasing win on Saturday, but the boys were very critical after the game.

"I want to see them enjoying a win, but their response showed a lot of character and told me that they always want to improve - and that's a good sign!"

Royston did enough to set up a second round encounter with Ridgeons Eastern Counties Premier Division side Ipswich Wanderers - a game that both the Snowdens are looking forward to.

Phil Snowden said: "They haven't been having a great season so far, and have won only two of their 12 league games.

"They are a level higher, but we seem to raise our game against the bigger teams and hopefully that will be the case once more.

"We've put together a nice little run, which has brought a bit of money into the club.

"It's the furthest the club has been in the Vase for a while, and hopefully the run will continue. It will be a big game."

Stuart Snowden said: "I'm looking forward to it.

"Ipswich Wanderers will be a tough side to beat but I'm confident.

"I played them a few years ago when they were managed by former Tottenham midfielder Jason Dozzell.

"They were a big physical side back then and I'm expecting them to be no different.

"But if we play to our potential I think we have a good chance of progressing. It's a tie we can win!
