SIX second half goals gave Melbourn a comfortable BIS League victory, on Saturday.

Melbourn started this fixture very strong with the visitor's goal coming under pressure for the first 30 minutes.

They nearly opened the scoring when Andy Richardson ran on to an excellent through ball from Ash Bryan, and saw his effort clip the post and roll gently back into the arms of Mott's keeper.

Tom Walker took the corner that opened the scoring, Gary Norman climbing well to head for the home side's first, Andy Richardson claiming the second shortly after.

It was clear that the visitors were a much weaker side and Melbourn began to relax leading sloppy play which provided the space for Mott to grab a goal shortly before the half time interval.

The second half started well for the home side with early goals from Bill Mansfield, Andy Richardson and Steve Marriott basically sealing the end for Mott Macdonald.

The home side continued to dominate and it was not long before Kris Watters got onto the score sheet firing home three goals to provide Melbourn with a well earned home victory.

Foxton 1 Mildenhall Town Reserves 0

FOXTON got back to winning ways on Saturday with a hard-fought win over Mildenhall in the quarter final of the league cup.

After Mildenhall had beaten Foxton 3-0 in the league earlier in the season, they knew it was going to be a tough game but Foxton welcomed back Iain Tokely, and Andy Kimsey, but were without new signing Adam Stokes due to an injury he had picked up the previous week.

The game started well, with both sides trying to get the ball down and play despite the strong cross wind, and it was Foxton who looked the more dangerous, and took the lead when a cross was flicked on at the near post and Adam Fields smahed the ball home from six yards.

Mildenhall almost drew level immediately, but Kimsey pushed the shot wide when the Mildenhall forward was through on goal.

Tokely then had a good chance when he headed over at the back post from six yards, and Barry Webber planted his header wide from inside the six yard box, which meant Foxton went in at the break 1-0 up.

The second half, the wind died down, but the game continued to be even, with Mildenhall committing more men forward, Foxton's defence were organised and held firm.

Andy Gray had a good chance where he breezed past two defenders in the box before firing straight at the keeper.

Foxton continued to be under pressure in the final minutes and keeper Kimsey had to be alert, when a Mildenhall forward was put through into the box and hammered a shot which Kimsey tipped over and meant Foxton progressed to the semi finals.
