A BUSY week of events saw Alan Warner win the Men's Medal at Royston Golf Club on Saturday with an amazing nett 63, seven under his 19 handicap.

His score was only one better than junior member Tom Trimble, whose nett 64 from his 11 handicap, just bettered Darren Ellis on the back nine for the runners-up spot. Ray Sammons finished fourth with a nett 68.

The Thursday Medal, played in glorious conditions was won by Peter Mansfield. The 12 handicapper had a very steady round of gross 77, nett 65. His score was seven shots ahead of scratch player Stuart Phillips, with Ray Sammons a further shot adrift.

The Fourball Betterball Stableford played on Sunday morning saw a glut of good scores, but it was Colin Clark and Keith Cridland who came out on top with an impressive 44 points.

Former captain, John Kelly and his partner, Charlie Winter, scored 43 for second place. Countback was required for third place and Peter Mitchell and Geoff Truran pipped Adam Woods and Pete Tidey.

The ladies played a stableford on Thursday and Shirley Bradshaw got back to winning ways finishing ahead of Vice Captain, Tina Collins, with Libby Toby finishing third. Karen Pearson continued her good form to record victory in the Alternate Stableford played on Saturday. Joan Smith finished second, just ahead of Jo Hilliard.

The Junior Section held a Medal on Monday. Greg Fyson took the spoils on Monday with an excellent nett 62, which has seen his twenty handicap slashed to seventeen. Michael Clapham took the runners-up place with a nett 69, while four handicapper, Chris Trimble finished third with a nett 69.

Several new junior members joined in the organised events of the week and two of the county boys under 12 squad, Luker Bailey and Jordan Hardwidge had excellent performances.
