West Wratting Res 1 Fowlmere 3

FOWLMERE manager Steve Walker hopes his side have turned the corner after their vital win against fifth-place West Wratting on Tuesday night.

It was an impressive victory for Fowlmere, with new signing Sean Audley instrumental once again as he set George Kew up for the opener, before firing in his sixth goal in five games with a late third.

Darren Dyer put the visitors 2-0 up just before half-time when he headed home Matt Poole's cross from the right.

West Wratting grabbed a goal midway through the second half, but Audley ended their hopes with a brilliant individual strike five minutes from time.

After a recent slump in form, Fowlmere have now gone five games unbeaten with Dyer and Audley also on target in Saturday's entertaining 3-3 draw with Camden United.

They also hit four past BIS Division 2A side Elsworth Sports on Thursday in an impressive Bambridge Cup victory. Captain Karyl Darcey opened the scoring from the penalty spot, before Audley smashed home a superb 20-yard strike.

The former Foxton striker then made it 3-0 with another confident strike, before Karl Frostick rolled in a fourth.

However, it did not go all Fowlmere's way late on, with keeper Kelly Jones controversially sent off before a late Elsworth consolation.

Walker said: "It's been a good few weeks for us and I think our two wins in the cups has given us some much-needed confidence.

"It was a great win on Tuesday night and we really needed it and it was an important three points.

"We did look a bit tired, but that's going to happen having played so many games in the last two weeks.

"But we're certainly getting there, and I'm confident we can finish the season on a high.

"Sean Audley has come in and given us a massive boost; he's scoring goals and having a positive effect on his new teammates.

"We've got another cup game on Thursday (tonight) against Debden in the Saffron Walden Cup, ahead of a tough league game with Litlington on Saturday.
