Royston II (115 all out) lost to Linton Village (200-3) by seven wickets
ROYSTON II came unstuck against Linton Village who had opener John Spencer to thank for their impressive score.
Spencer smashed an unbeaten 77 from 131 balls including nine 4s as Linton posted 200-3 from 40 overs.
Spencer's fellow opener Chris Matthews made 44 before falling to Bonham Harper and Ashley Shirley added 14 to the scoreboard before being dismissed by Jon Harper.
Gavin Bowie took the attack to the Royston bowlers smashing a 35-ball 47 before he was caught off the bowling of Paul Harris.
Royston started off positively with the bat losing only Paul Leary (6) to the opening bowlers.
Linton shuffled their pack and it worked wonders as Dean Chipps dismissed Michael Miller (24), Jonathan Crook (3) and Harper (1) to leave Royston in real trouble.
Not to be outdone by his bowling partner Chris Matthews ripped through the Royston middle order claiming the scalps of Rory Harper (27), Harris (28) and Jamie Seabrook (5).
Royston's lower order offered little resistance as Mark Liles removed Bonham Harper (1) and Nick Hooton (1) before Matthews returned to wrap up the innings with the wicket of Kieran Willis-Wright.
