REED seconds continued their fine form with a convincing win against Little Berkhamsted on Saturday - which keeps them firmly among the promotion places and one win away from top spot.

Electing to bowl, Reed started well, with the opening bowlers Andy Young (17-9-29-0) and Rupert Martin (11-6-22-1) keeping the score down to 45 off the first 20 overs. However, some lusty blows by Green and Marett in the later stages of the innings saw Berkhamstead reach 166 for 6 off their 53 overs.

The Reed batsmen then set about their task with admirable patience, with Mark King (25), Fergus Martin (32) and Karl Ward (29) all impressing with the bat. However, the honours went to Marcus Martin whose well-worked 52 almost saw Reed home.

That honour was eventually left to Ed Garrott and Steve Lovegrove who hit the last 20 runs, winning the game for the unbeaten Reed in the 45th over.
