Royston Town Vets 7-0 Whittlesford Vets

ROYSTON Town Vets chalked up their fifth straight victory on Sunday in convincing fashion to consolidate their spot at the top of the table.

An early own goal set the ball rolling for Royston before they doubled the lead through a Leete header following good build-up play from Silenti and Saggers.

Town extended their advantage shortly before half time when a cross from the right was converted by Saggers with a fierce right-foot volley that gave the visiting ‘keeper no chance.

Town’s fourth goal arrived midway into the second half courtesy of a penalty awarded by referee Martin Pope. Pinner was tripped in the box and Lewis sent the ‘keeper the wrong way with the resultant spot-kick.

The visitors’ defence was put under sustained pressure for long periods as Town took control of the game. Saggers scored the fifth with a thunderous left foot shot from 25 yards and then Lewis added a sixth when he rounded the ‘keeper having been put through by Daniels.

Daniels then completed the scoring with a fine diving header from a left wing cross from Humphries.
