ROYSTON kicked off their start to the Veterans League in style with the first team seeing off Great Shelford Vets.

Pru Burton, Mike Fellingham, Christine Knight, and Ralph Betts were in fine form with a 4-3 win, while the second team had to settle for a hard-fought 4-4 draw with Burwell.

Emma Daintrey, John Holmes, Kathy Betts, and Garry Tobiss proved more than a match for a strong Burwell team and impressed despite the difficult conditions.

The Ladies Winter League came to an end with a 4-2 victory for Royston over Burwell. Kathy Betts, Emma Daintrey Christine Knight and Pru Burton were in control from the off.

The ladies team went the whole season unbeaten, winning all five of their matches to claim the league title and as a result they have been promoted to the third division.
