ROYSTON put out a mixed team on Monday evening with an abundance of centre court players, but the versatile line-up was able to move around the court to make the team work with Gayle Pledger and Karen Hume making a new shooting combination and Jackie Huttlestone supporting at WA.
Royston started off slower than usual but as their defence began to gel, Emma Winser and Beg Laughlin began to make vital interceptions, turning over the attacking play of Hertford.
Clark and Emily St John then moved the ball quickly up the court to the waiting shooters who put the ball in the net.
However, having new combinations over the court made it more difficult than usual for Royston's players as they had to work even harder in order to adapt.
After a good talk at half time Royston went back out and Hume moved to GA to help feed the shooter Pledger.
Royston's movement on the court became much quicker and they had settled into a good routine with Winser's superb play making it difficult for her opponents, while Laughlin kept herself busy intercepting the feeds from the Hertford attack.
This, coupled with excellent circle defence by St John and Clark, seemed to do the trick and Royston scored over 15 goals in the third quarter.
The last quarter was also Royston's and they continued to push forward and were, in the end, able to maintain their unbeaten run.
Royston: Pledger, Hume (C), Huttleston, St John, Clark, Winser, Laughlin.
