ROYSTON Tennis Club Vets were dealt a blow when they slipped to a crushing 8-0 defeat against Next Generation.
It was the Vets' first defeat of the season, with the Next Generation line up too strong for Mike Fellingham, Pru Burton, Ralph Betts, and Christine Knight.
The team are still in a strong position to be promoted, with one more league match to play, away to Fulbourn next Tuesday.
The Vets second team turned the their teammates disappointing result around, with Emma Daintrey, Kathy Betts, John Holmes, and Garry Tobiss seeing off Soham 8-0.
The seconds ended the season unbeaten, with three wins and two draws, which have seen them secure promotion.
