GRENEWAY'S Year 8 athletes represented North Herts in the Herts Youth Games at the Hertfordshire University Sports Village on Sunday.

Their selection to represent North Herts made it a unique treble, as the school were also representing the district at basketball and the mixed sportshall athletics.

This was superb achievement and testimony to the sporting talent at Greneway.

Throughout the highly competitive competition the school finished in the top four of every event, with many top three placings in the track and field events.

The final positions were incredibly close with North Herts narrowly missing out on a medal in fourth place by only eight points. In fact, only 12 points separated the top four teams.

The top three teams were all elite groups from athletics clubs in their district. So as the only school participating Greneway's result was particularly impressive.

Colin Jackson, the 110m hurdles world record holder, presented the medals to the winners.
